Important Update. Full Race Details.

Jordan’s Centra Kill Annual Run

Firstly thank you for your supporting Kill GAA and Saplings school in registering for the Jordan’s Centra Annual Run. There is a great mix of runners now registered for both the 4k and 10k. The weather forecast looks like good running weather for Saturday.

In advance of Saturday I wanted to answer a few queries we have been receiving. However before I do I wanted to thank all of our main sponsors namely Jordans Centra, www.Pigsback.com, O’Driscoll O’Neill, Allcare Pharmacy, IKON Talent Management, McLoughlins flooring, Goffs, KFM and www.Congregation.ie for all their support. We do appreciate all the assistance you have given.

Please note that this a running or walking event only. No scooters, bikes or roller skates are permitted on either route.

T-shirt and race no collection

This can be done tomorrow (Friday 11th) from 5pm until 8pm and before the run on Saturday from 1pm until 3pm at the Saplings school in Kill Village. The Saplings school is located beside the Church in the middle of the village. Please note that unlike last year, registration is here and not in the new school.

Start time

The 10k will start at 4pm. The 4k will start at 4.15pm. The routes are all on www.kill10k.com.

Starting location and finishing

Both the 4k and 10k will start at the Saplings school. They both will finish at Kill GAA club.

The GAA club is about 750m from the t shirt collection location at Saplings School.

Parking

There is ample parking in the church car park or at the Saplings school. There is no parking available at the GAA club. Parking will be on a first come first served basis.

What about the route?
The 10k run will start at Kill church/Saplings school. It will travel through Kill village taking a left at the former Garda station. From here it will travel up Hartwell Road veering left past BAM. At the next junction it will go right onto the l2019, travelling uphill. After this hill the route goes right into the area known locally as the walls. The water station will be here.  This tends to be fast part of the run as there is a slight decline on this road. From here it is downhill to the Tipper Road which takes you past the Irish Equine Centre and The Playbarn and into Johnstown.

At the T-junction in the village take a right and from here it is a run back to the Kill GAA club passing the Johnstown Graveyard and the John Devoy memorial.

The 4k route starts at the Kill Church/Saplings School and travels through the village past the Gables Estate and GAA club. It then travels down to the under pass of the N7 heading towards Goffs. From Goffs it goes up to the roundabout crossing over the bridge to the Kill Johnstown Road. From here it’s back to the GAA club passing the John Devoy memorial.

Will there be a warm up? What about toilets and a water station? Showers?
There will be a warm up in the grounds of Kill church. This warm up will start at 3.45pm.

There will be a water station after 5k on the 10k route and after 2k on the 4k route.

There will be toilets at the Saplings School at the start line before the run and then again at the GAA club at the finish line.

Showers and changing facilities are available at the club afterwards.

Can we enter on the day?

Yes we are taking entries on Friday from 5 pm until 8 pm and on Saturday from 1 until 3. We will not be able to take any entries after 3 pm on Saturday.

What are the prizes for the 10k?

First Male and Female: €400 each

Second Male and Female €150 each

Third Male and Female €75

Team prize €200

As the 4k is a fun run only there will only be some spot prizes.

Any food after?
This year the food will be even better and more plentiful. Make sure you join us in the GAA hall after the race for some goodies.

After Race Disco

Please join us afterwards from 9pm in the GAA for a great retro disco with music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. This will be a great night and great way to let down your hair (for those who have some).

These will be given out after the run at about 5.15/530pm.
